PRESS: Acquisition of Jim Flynn Rentals and dBm Pro Audio Repairs

Jim Flynn Rentals - Grammys

NEW YORK, NY — Fast-growing event production company, Crossfire Sound Productions, is expanding its expertise in audio rentals and repairs with the acquisition of Jim Flynn Rentals and dBm Pro Audio Repairs. Based in New York City, the two companies formerly under the Pro-Sound NYC umbrella, have grown rapidly since their inception in 1995 to become a market leader in creative and professional audio solutions. The acquisition accelerates Crossfire’s commitment to serve clients across all aspects of the event production, audiovisual rentals and repairs space, in an authentic, quality-centric way.

Jim Flynn Rentals was founded by audio pioneer Jim Flynn on the simple principle that “Sound Matters.” Providing a broad range of sound equipment rentals for film, studio, broadcast, music, theatre, events and corporate clients, the company has a longstanding history of extraordinary growth, with clients such as The Super Bowl, The Grammys, Andrea Bocelli, Beyoncé, “The Daily Show” and “Saturday Night Live.”

dBm Pro Audio Repairs is a leading specialist in the restoration, service and maintenance of professional audio equipment and musical instruments. Relied upon by clients such as Bob Dylan, U2, The Who and Lenny Kravitz, dBm is an Authorized Service Center (ASC) for a wide range of manufacturers including Yamaha, Harman, Mackie, Roland, RTW, Korg, QSC and Behringer.

“We help clients by providing them with creative and scalable audiovisual solutions. Jim Flynn Rentals and dBm bring true category expertise and innovation — offering the benefit of a repairs division as well as an expanded rentals division — giving us a huge opportunity to scale up on the audio products and services we offer,” said Kyle Malenfant, Crossfire’s Founder and CEO. “Clients will benefit from our combined capabilities and we’re excited to have them join the Crossfire family.”

“The timing was right for both parties to enter into this new chapter. I’m incredibly proud of what our team has built, but I’m also excited about the new opportunities that lie ahead,” said Andy Hilton, CEO of Pro-Sound NYC. “We are now part of one of the strongest and most respected AV solutions providers and we look forward to working together to ensure continued excellence and to meet the radically evolving needs of clients today.”

This deal marks the third acquisition for Crossfire in recent years. Crossfire began its acquisition of AV companies with its asset purchase of Pro AV Rentals in 2015, followed by Music First Productions (LoudPA.com) three years later. Crossfire’s success recently landed them on the INC 5000’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies list for both 2018 and 2019.

“This announcement represents an important milestone in our longstanding growth strategy, reflecting our team’s unwavering commitment to innovation as we expand our Northeast footprint, further develop our audio markets, and ultimately move toward our nationwide growth strategy,” added Malenfant. “We’re incredibly selective about the companies we bring into our network, and their shared values, dedication, and collaborative culture make them a perfect fit.”
